UNA Hosts Albertine Cinémathèque French Film Festival

FLORENCE, AL – The University of North Alabama (UNA) College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering will have the fifth annual French Film Festival beginning March 8 and concluding on March 24. The festival includes six screenings, and admission is free.
Each film will begin at 6 p.m. at the Wesleyan Hall Auditorium 214, and all films will have English subtitles. This year’s films will include:
- Tuesday, March 8: Mandibles (2020)
- Thursday, March 10: Night of the Kings (2020)
- Tuesday, March 15: Tale of Summer (1995)
- Thursday, March 17: Little Girl (2020)
- Tuesday, March 22: Early Shorts by Alain Resnais (1948-1956)
- Thursday, March 24: Bamako (2006)
There will be free t-shirts for attendees and a French-themed reception on the opening night, March 8, at 5 p.m. At the end of the festival, UNA Culinary Arts will prepare a special pastry inspired by West African cuisine for moviegoers to take home.
The UNA French Film Festival is hosted by Dr. Stephanie Coker, Assistant Professor of French, and the UNA Department of Foreign Languages with the UNA School of the Arts, Visual Arts & Design, Department of Cinematic Arts & Theatre, Department of English, the Mitchell-West Center for Social Inclusion, and the Office of International Affairs. Face coverings and social distancing are encouraged at the screenings.
