The nearly $17,000 contributed to the organization that partners with 20 local agencies is a result of payroll deductions from UNA employees as well as from Step Sing. "Because more than half of our partner agencies are able to use United Way funds as leverage for additional grant funding, that $17,000 has the potential to dramatically increase and make an enormous impact in our community," said Kerry Del Pizzo, the Community Impact and Communications Director for United Way of Northwest Alabama. Deborah Shaw, UNA's Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director for the UNA Foundation said, "Employees at the University of North Alabama believe strongly in the communities in which they live and serve. Supporting the efforts of the United Way of Northwest Alabama allows us to assist the many organizations that work so hard to make a positive impact on those in need."
