FLORENCE, Ala. - The Diorama staff at the University of North Alabama will release its annual yearbook centered on the theme of "Chronology" next week to all students, faculty, staff and community members. The staff will hand out books April 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and April 25 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Guillot University Center atrium. Siobhan Gehrs, Diorama associate editor and 2012-2013 executive editor, said she and other staff members worked tirelessly during the last year to revamp the yearbook and design it in chronological order to unify the campus as a whole. She said the yearbook staff has one mission in mind, which is to serve the UNA student community. "Compared to the two previous years, we did a much better job of covering different events and including more students in the yearbook," Gehrs said. The Diorama staff currently consists of three editors, including Executive Editor Amber Waldrep, Associate Editor Siobhan Gehrs and Associate Editor Ashley Richardson. The staff has several volunteer writers, designers and Student Media photographers who also contribute to the yearbook. The staff will have 2,500 copies of the yearbook to distribute next week in the GUC, Gehrs said. Singing River Records artists The Bluebirds will perform April 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The staff is also in talks with the Department of Entertainment Industry to feature more live music at the release party. The Diorama staff has celebrated numerous accomplishments during the past year. Last October, the staff's 2011 yearbook was recognized by the Associated Collegiate Press in its Best of Show competition among college yearbooks throughout the country. The Diorama staff also placed ninth nationally for their work on the same yearbook. Recently, Balfour selected The Diorama to be featured in its annual "Yearbook Yearbook." Richardson, who will continue on as an associate editor of The Diorama next year, was ecstatic to see an early copy of the yearbook on April 17, a week before its official release. "I wanted to cry," she said. "It's just an amazing feeling to actually see the yearbook in person. It's neat to see the book off the computer and in print and to be able to hold it in my hands and be proud of it."
