Una Hosts Honor Orchestra Festival

Carole Maynard, UNA Department of Music FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama Department of Music will host the UNA Honor Orchestra Festival, Jan. 13 and 14, 2017. This event, in its third year, will bring together 80-100 talented string students from Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia. Once again led by Shoals Symphony at UNA music director Dr. Daniel Stevens, the festival will include two orchestras-an Honor Orchestra for the top students who audition, conducted by Dr. Stevens, and a Festival Orchestra, conducted by visiting conductor Jacob Frank. Both orchestras will perform at the Honor Orchestra Concert on Saturday, January 14. In addition to playing stand-alone selections, the Honor Orchestra students will have the opportunity to sit side-by-side and perform with the professional musicians of the Shoals Symphony at UNA. Tickets range from $16 - $24 for adults, and $7 for students and children (12 and under).
