Michelle Eubanks, UNA, at meubanks@love365cn.com, 256-606-2033 or 256-765-4392 FLORENCE, AL - Officials at the University of North Alabama have today announced plans to postpone Homecoming events until the Spring 2021 semester in order to maintain health and safety measures as part of the return-to-campus plan. Specifics about the event will be announced at a later date. "Our decision was reached after several conversations regarding the return-to-campus plan as well as from the changes taking place in our Athletics Department and with the fall football schedule," said Justin "Bishop" Alexander, Director of Alumni Relations at UNA. "Moving the Homecoming event to the spring gives us a greater chance of being able to bring others to campus and enjoy something more in keeping with what we've come to expect as a Homecoming celebration." On Aug. 18, the UNA Athletics Department announced it would have one home football game this season, and it would be against Jacksonville State University on October 17. There are two other scheduled games: UNA will play Southern Mississippi on Nov. 7 and BYU on Nov. 21. Alexander said details regarding the spring Homecoming event would be announced at a later date.
